200 Hr YTT FAQs
What lineage does your program follow?
Our program follows a Hatha/Vinyasa background.
How much experience do I need to register for this program?
The range of experience with participants will range from 6 months to many years. Each student has something to offer and to gain. We will start with the basics and touch on multiple layers of yoga philosophies, asanas, and class planning. All students will walk out with a deeper knowledge of yoga and the confidence to teach a public yoga class.
What prerequisites do I need to meet before training?
To have a desire to deepen your yoga practice and broaden your understanding of yoga philosophy.
To approach training with an open heart and have a positive attitude toward learning.
Have a consistent home practice or practice yoga consistently in a classroom for at least 6 months.
Be 18 years or older.
How does the registration process work?
After reading this FAQ list, if you still have questions, please contact Chrissy Niper. If you do not have questions, fill out the registration online, pay a $300 deposit, and that’s it! You will receive an email confirming payment. Once accepted, a welcome email will be provided within 10 business days.
How much does the training cost?
$2600 when you register before June 7th with a $300 Deposit and pay in full before September 1st
$2900 with a $300 deposit and monthly payment plan
When is the deposit due?
The full $300 deposit is due upon registration and is required to reserve a spot on our roster. Applying and paying in full before September 1st will qualify you for the early bird discount.
Is there a payment plan option?
Once you pay the $300 deposit, monthly payments of $290 will be deducted from your card on file on the first Friday of every month. Please make a note of requesting a payment plan on your registration. Please be aware that you will not be allowed to continue participating in the program if you fail to meet the payment obligations.
Are there scholarships?
We will be offering a $500 scholarship for one student. It’s a work-study scholarship meaning the student will be responsible for classroom setup, clean up, and homework collection.
What is your Refund Policy?
Cancellation notices should be in writing (via email) by August 31st. The $300 deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable.
Cancellation requests received by August 31st will result in forfeiture of your entire $300 deposit. Any remaining balance will be refunded.
What if I quit the training program early?
We understand that sometimes life happens. In the unfortunate event that you are forced to withdraw during an active training program, you will be missed! Refunds for active training programs are processed on an individual basis and are generally prorated based on the length of time spent in the program. When circumstances permit, we can also discuss the possibility of transferring you to another program. Please call or email with questions.
What is the average age of students attending these programs?
The minimum age requirement is 18, and there is no maximum limit, as yoga is not influenced by age, gender, or religion. Regardless of your age and even past yoga experience, we start off by covering the basics of alignment and anatomy to build a solid foundation with sequencing and adjustments.
How many students are in a training program?
The maximum capacity is 20 students to allow for optimal learning. Note: Due to COVID-19, our 2021/2022 training will have a maximum capacity of 12 students to maintain social distancing.
Can I take this course if I’m not positive I want to become a yoga instructor?
Yes, of course! We encourage students to enroll in our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program to deepen their individual practice, gain knowledge, and learn methods of sharing the gift of yoga with others.
What if I have to miss part of the training?
100% attendance is required for Yoga Alliance certification, but we will do our best to work with you in the unfortunate event of an emergency. If you do miss significant time, you will need to pay a $200 makeup fee. Then, depending on what was taught during the missed session, you will need to pay — in addition to the $200 fee — the private hourly rate of the teachers who taught the segments that were missed. Most instructors charge a makeup fee of $50-$100 an hour. If you miss more than one weekend, you will be encouraged to transfer to a future program. Yoga Alliance will not certify you until you have completed your certification through Fit2Shine Studio. Again, you are strongly urged not to register for a teacher training program knowing that you will need to miss any time. It is costly, and it will most likely never be the same quality of learning as with your original group of peers.
What is the curriculum covered during the training?
Students receive a detailed syllabus upon arrival, but generally, there is about 50% asana and 50% lecture/discussion each day. Multiple topics are covered, including but not limited to poses, meditation, philosophy, pranayama, anatomy, sequencing, and assists.
What is Yoga Alliance?
